About us
E-Team
is the
Formula FSAE
team at the
Università di Pisa (Italy).
FSAE is a car race between universities, started in the USA at the end of seventies. Nowadays, with up to 280 team involved, it is the biggest university formula-style race car world championship. The competition provides for the teams (made up of university students) to project, to seek funding, to build and drive single-sit cars. Students are required to design, develop, manufacture and drive an open-wheeled prototype, also taking care of economical and marketing aspects. The cars are highly technological and have performances such as accelerations from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds and lateral accelerations larger than 1.3 g. Formula SAE is not an ordinary car race, but a clever trial of a real work experience for young university students coming not only from engineering but also from the marketing and business schools.
Who we are
The Università di Pisa has been competing in
Formula SAE since 2008. Bachelor, master and PhD students work together in team that counts more than forty people and is structured in several divisions. Our team is a multidisciplinary and dynamic environment where students from mechanical, automotive, electrical, aerospace, and management engineering, economics and liberal arts work together.
We are special
Usually rookie Formula SAE teams compete only with
at a project and only the following years build and compete with the car.
E-Team,
with a limited budget and starting from scratch, was able to race with its first car, ET1, at the
Italian Formula SAE
event at
Fiorano
after only 9 months of work. Our team was first among the rookies, sixth over 11 Italian teams, twenty-third over 31 challengers. ET1 was one of the 14 cars that were able to complete the endurance race. Our performance surprised several experts of motorsport such as Andrea Toso from
Dallara
and Luca Marmorini, former member of the
Toyota Formula One
Team. We are confident we will improve.
